The further upstream I paddle in this website of yours, the more familiar everything seems.
Just now I read the sentence, "I formed with the vibrations of my mother's guitar." and I about flipped. I wrote a song based on that very idea for the kids that single 20-something me might have some day. Right now I've got such great hope for the future if creative forces like you are what happen when music is mixed in with the genes and the love of a growing family. Thank you!

Hi,
By the miracles of mailing lists and good friends I found out about your show here in Victoria last Thursday. I'm so glad I made it out and that there was a seat left. I loved your work on Firecracker and got a hold of Water, which was great too. So I was happy to hear you have something new out. Resilience is very beautiful. I love your sense of melody, your mix of fun and seriousness, your musicianship and your singing. It was a gift to get to hear you perform the tunes live. And your impromptu intros were great. They gave the show a very human and authentic feel, unlike so much of the over-polished, auto-tuned stuff that's around. Hope your other shows on the coast went well and that you come back soonish. Keep well.

Annabelle:
I just purchased "Firecracker," and must confess I've been completely overwhelmed by "Apocalypse Lullaby." I can't seem to restrain my tears through it. I'm not even sure why, since lyrically, it's cryptic and inscrutable. Perhaps it's because I cherish such songs, ones that don't club one over the head with a message, but instead convey the artist's soul through sound and image. "Apocalypse Lullaby" works its magic by impression rather than proposition. It is surely one of the most exquisite creations I've heard in many years. Thank you for giving it to us.

Hi Annabelle,
In planning your upcoming tour, I hope you'll remember all your friends south of the border. I'd love for you to come see us in the Atlanta, Georgia area, the land I call home, where the rivers are still green but much tinier than usual, and Water is currently at the forefront of everyone's mind. The good news is our native flora is pretty hardy and I hope we'll have a decent (if not dazzling) display of dogwood and azalea in the spring -- so come and see!
Failing that (and it's a long shot, I know), a performance in any city with a major airport would fill the bill for me :-) Or -- even better -- how about a show near a major ski area during the season? That would certainly give me an extra incentive to travel!
Best,
Niki

Hi Annabelle, my daughter Emily and her friends are waiting to see you if and when you come to Toronto. Why not organize a concert at the U. of T. Faculty of Music? They have lots of talented Music students who would love to hear you and they also have great venues on campus. Please, please, think about that!

Your show from Wolfville was amazing. It was great to hear your older pieces like Firecracker and Devil's Paintbrush, and exciting to hear your new songs too. That new CD sure will be welcome when it finally arrives. amanda.

'Nashville' is a classic annabelle: deep, rich, deceptively simple song that is achingly subtle and filled with evocative scenes and half-glimpsed characters.
It's a song from the future, one on the legendary solo voice and guitar album that we've been hoping for, along with tracks like 'Apocalypse' and some other as yet unwritten ones. It's the album Annabelle puts out when she's done with playing around with drummers and grown out of bassists and electrickery guitars, when she realises the pure goddess deep earth volcano mystery love burp inside her and just pops down 10 unforgettable lifechanging ballads live through the magic telefunken onto two track for our minimalist listening pleasure and worship, chair creaks and lip smacks and all.
I can picture in my mind a group of women listening to 'Nashville' on a balmy Poutugese terrace, sea breeze wafting in, azure late afternoon light, bittersweet thoughts of their spouses far away codfishing in the freezing dangerous Atlantic deeps ... I can see Italian couples sharing their ipod headphones, the Lambretta parked on the hilltop at sunset looking down over the old town ... Truckdrivers dropping a tear and a gear as they haul up the lower slopes of the Colorado Rockies, wondering where their load of Chinese-made toys is going to end up, what greedy little hands will hastily unwrap them and what dreams they will inspire ... Rockabilly wannabe biker chicks in Tokyo's Harajuku Park, searching for their identity, slow dancing to the beatbox ... Annabelle's wispy words pervading far and wide across the world's networks, tendrils of love and beauty intertwining with our future memories.
Heartfelt Thanks ...

Ola Annabelle . . . Still waiting for that new CD. Any hope of a preview on MySpace? I'll bet I'm not the only fan who is getting very very hungry to hear it. I hope it is going well and will soon be finished. Amanda A.

Annabelle, your style and your deep voice and your unusual melodies are...I don't know what to say. I don't even usually add an entry to a guest book. I found the Wailin' Jennys by accident...and then I only found you because I noticed that one girl didn't look the same and then found out there was a new member. Then I found your music on Rhapsody. I love the sweetness and gentleness of your voice, especially in the lower range.

Can't wait for '08. I'll hop a PLANE if I have to to see you fly solo. Any chance of a rerelease of 1 a.m to 5 a.m, or are those songs already available on the other discs? P.S. The new Joni Mitchell is staggeringly good.

Hey Annabelle . . . Is it true that your big show in Wolfville will be broadcast on CBC? Please let us know the date. The Deep Roots Festival line-up looked awesome. Wish I could have been there but I sure do want to hear you on radio. Good luck with the new CD. Amanda.

Hey Annabelle, I'm off to see the Wailin' Jennys mk3 later today... won't be the same without you! I swear though, if they haven't bothered to change that set list or the jokes - I may just scream... ;) Can't wait for the new CD, the new tune is ace! Keep up the good work x

Just about to book tickets for the Wailin' Jennys concert at sunny Langolm on the Scottish border and I discovered that the divine Miss Chvostek has ceased her "Wailin'". Disaster. Does this mean we won't be seeing you again in these parts? No more North Cumbrian hills and sheep with pink bums? Get yourself back, lass. You know it makes sense. I hope you thrive in whatever you do but I'd love to hear you sing "Holy" again.

Peter, I will be back in the UK!!!! Look for me in spring 2008. I will sing you Holy.

I like it when you tell us about the places you've been and show us photos. I like the Nova Scotia photo in your journal. I love the pictures of you. Do you have any more? I hope your new album is here soon. Amanda.
